A circle, filled with light: this pave donut necklace centres a rounded, cubic zirconia-set ring on a short chain, geometry doing the work that a pendant motif usually does. It is a Lauren G Adams study in how far a simple shape can travel.

The pendant is brass, rhodium-plated to a mirror-cool finish and hand-finished at every edge, and the necklace fastens with a lobster clasp at a collarbone-friendly length. Nickel- and lead-free, it plays the modernist against more sentimental pieces — layer it with hearts and initials and it keeps the whole stack honest.
