Let me share with you the story of a necklace I lost in Manchester. This necklace has a profound history: it survived the Holocaust. My grandmother, who passed away about a year before I moved to South Africa, revealed on her deathbed that she was Jewish. She had escaped from either the Netherlands or Germany during that dark period.
